Clivia Walk
Hidden in the forest, the Clivia Walk is one of Camps Bay Retreat’s most striking natural treasures. Each spring, usually from September, the garden bursts into colour as clivias flower in vibrant shades of orange and yellow beneath the trees. Their bold blooms brighten the forest floor, creating a living carpet that guests return to year after year.
Clivias are indigenous to South Africa and thrive in shaded, woodland settings like ours. Evergreen by nature, they bring year-round greenery and resilience, even in times of drought. The genus was first named in 1828 after Lady Charlotte Clive, and today these plants remain celebrated across the country as a symbol of endurance and understated beauty.
The Clivia Walk at Camps Bay Retreat is more than a seasonal spectacle — it is a place to pause, wander and reflect. It inspires with its colours, rewards with its stillness and spoils those who take the time to look closer at the details of this rare and remarkable setting.
